New Z in process...the hardway... I received an odd call a couple of days ago. A Z friend packed up and moved to MN. He was letting me know he left behind a bunch of Z parts nd they were mine if I went to pick them up.
Thanks to help from Larry and his trailer, I am now the part owner of a 240Z. Why part owner? Partial list:
Hood, 4 doors, rear hatch with glass, 3 fenders, 2 sets of headlight buckets with lights, rear spoiler, seats, assorted engine parts, rear quater windows, extra door windows, 2 dashes with guages, Front strut assemblies + extras, steering rack with steering column, assorted interior parts, some 280Z engine parts, and a ton of misc parts that need to be sorted and put up on ebay.
All the body panels are in excellent condition.
All I need now is a decent body with a solid rear end. I already have a second turbo motor. Seriously close to having a complete 240Z now. Of course its in pieces, but what the heck...
BTW...it might be a year or two for an update on this project. Need to get the current one finished. Second BTW, there were some parts I can use to complete the current project. The ZXT will be running when Spring arrives. |

To be realistic right now, I'm not able to do either. In a perfect world, I would make a streetable track car. As good as the hood and fenders are, I would prefer CF/FG for those since they are soooo much lighter and actually available.
As is, there are a ton of parts that will be going up on ebay and assorted Z sites to generate some $$ for the current Z project.
There are some misc BMW parts in the collection too. I need to sort the whole mess and figure out what is worth selling, keeping and/or tossing. |

Mark, I was just thinking... If you found an old Z for the Lemons races, and you showed up at the track with all these spare parts, they'd think you were the next Roger Penske. |

LOL! I'm not that distinquished looking be mistaken for Roger.
I'd love to do the Lemons & ChumpCar. Not so sure I could sacrifice a Z for it though. |

So here are the parts I have been needing to finish the current project.
- Silicon hump connector attaches the Air Flow Meter to the SS pip that Larry welded some hose fittings to. Then the two 90 degree connectors attach to the inlet on the turbo. This is all 3" diameter.
- The SS 180 degree SS pipe will be part of the IC tubing. Seriously shiney. Just where the silicon 90 attaches to the turbo, that is where the 180 SS bend will attach and then loop over the wastegate and attach to the rest of the IC piping.
- The SS braided line is the oil feed for the turbo. -AN fittings are used to make the connections.
- V-Band clamp will attach the downpipe directly to the turbo. I have one in place on the exhaust side of the turbo.
- There are two more sets of V-Band flanges & clamps. One set will be at the bottom of the downpipe and the third set will be near the back of the car, just after the CAT. I can always splice in another set in between so it gives me the ability to run a CAT or Test Pipe set-up.
All the 3" madrel tubing is sitting in the garage waiting to be fab'd together. |
