I am leaving from my office (99th and Michigan Road) between 5:30 and 5:45 to head over there. It should be a good night for it. The last couple times I have gone they check your helmet at check in time. If you needed we could "pass back" a helmet after I get mine checked out.

I am going with the guy you met in the BMW M6 and 2 other guys in Mercedes. Hope you can make it

Was not a good night for me! There were a lot of cars there and probably 30 minutes or so between runs. My best run was a 12.37 at 117. Should be doing a lot better than that, but I was having trouble getting off the line. I need to go back soon so to redeem myself.

What rpm launches did you try? Were you wheel spinning, hopping or bogging it from too low rpms? Currious as to what works best on the Z06. 12.37 at 117 is still a fun pass!

Dammit wish I would have been there. You need drag radials.

I tried different launch techniques. I have not had very much experience going down the track, as my numbers show! I was either spinning a lot or bogging down, couldn't find the sweet spot. I tried launch RMP's between 1,500-3,500 and also starting from idle. I think I just need to pick a technique and stick with it so I can better that it.

I like the road courses much better, the drag strip gets boring after a couple of runs for me.

I had my best luck at 3500 RPMs. Lower than that would bog. I found dumping the clutch always gave me wheel spin. I got my better launches when I featherd the clutch so the wheels would hook, then once they do, dump the clutch the rest of the way. You obviously have a ton more HP than me, so you really need to control getting that HP to the ground so as little is wasted. Wonder if working the clutch would help you better with the launch?

+ what Larry said...street tires spin....drag radials hook up.

FWIW...I'd be in heaven if I could pull a 12.37 @ 117mph. My best is ~14.5 @ 94mph with street tires, 25 year old engine & turbo putting out 250rwhp and me as the driver. Still incrediably FU!!! Nice job.
