Panteras in Japan Yuki, Just found out from some postings in the Pantera forum that there is quite a following in Japan. Canadian and European following has been known, but this was not. They have never made an attempt to join or even contact any of the Pantera forums here. Could you read the history info on their website and let me know if they say anything about the States? Thanks! P.S. I like the video, we need to get us some of those for our C&C, and I'm not talking about the cars.... http://p400sv.at.infoseek.co.jp/History.htm http://p400sv.at.infoseek.co.jp/Meeting8.htm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuozttujawQ&feature=related

Thanks Yuki! Tjaarda makes a point to attend Pantera/Detomaso functions pretty regularly. I'm hoping to meet him sometime and have him autograph my sun visor and small scale Pantera model. But we digress.... It would be terrific if you could attempt to make contact them and find out if they have any interest in joining the PI (Pantera International) forum and having an Asian Regional Forum created for them on the website. We would love to have them join and share ideas, solutions, if nothing more than pictures. Its free of charge. Really appreciate your help. Below is the PI website. http://pantera.infopop.cc/eve/forums

You are correct. They started at 310HP in the early 70s with a compression of 10 or so, and went up to 330HP with the European GTS by 1973, at a compression of about 11.5. The HP was then reduced when the compression was reduced to 9 someting and the emissionins crap was put on. It was down to about 275HP. This all happened in th mid 70s, which when combined with the gas crisis ended up killing sales. Usually owners replace the carburator and exhaust to gain an additional 15 HP or so. The original ones were very restrictive. Mine has both replaced as well as a rebuilt engine that has been 30 bored over and high compression, but not sure how much. It has TRW forged pistons, a performance cam, and new heads with roller rockers. I haven't had it dyno'd yet but my guess is I'm probably running around 360HP. Not much by today's standards but still fun. Of course you have the guys that put monster 427s in it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlen0A-Cmss
